Wanna Buy a Roster?

The following are cell phone pictures that I've cleaned off my phone from the past week.  Most of these are things I've seen, wanted, and not bought (so what, I'm cheap!), some are pictures I've sent Boots, and some are just plain funny.

You know I love peacocks, right?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a possibility (my Uncle Roe thinks he can make me one) of what might go in that teeny hole between the pantry cabinet and my new dishwasher.  That particular cabinet that I had to special order from Lowe's wouldn't fit.  Apparently we did some miscalculating with the tape measure somewhere.

This is the biggest jar I've ever seen!  I need one for something.

My New Friend, Joann

The day before the Great Flood of '11, Boots and I went our separate ways, as in he went fishing and I went shopping with my aunt, cousin, and my Meme (whose not really my Meme, but might as well be.)  Boots caught a few fish and I made a new friend named Joann.

......on the cheap like this!  (too bad I don't sew)

I found some material for my next Pocahontas outfit.

I loved it, absolutely adored this book.

(It was kinda high-priced so I left it then bought it the next day at Barnes & Noble.

Now I gotta learn to crochet.

And knit.)

Serendipity Quilts: Cutting Loose Fabric Collage by Susan Carlson

The quilts in this book were beautiful!

We spent about fifteen minutes trying to convince my hardheaded genius cousin (who adamently refused!) to make this.

Because she could totally do it.

I leave you with this disturbing image of a gar fish, hung on side of the boat.

Yikes, oh, my toes!

In the end I left with a plastic 6mm crochet hook, quilting needles and quilting thread for less than 10 big ones. 

When we got back from our shopping trip, my aunt, my cousin, my Popaw and my Granny all helped me glue the top onto the cotton inside and back of my future kid's quilt.

It was kind of a reality check moment thinking about preparing for the future in such a physical way since usually we prepare emotionally, spiritually, and financially for things.

Kinda scary.

I borrowed a quilting frame from Meme, but haven't even touched it or the quilt because like I said- this was the day before the Great Flood.

Cheap, Cheap!

On sale for 69 cents a piece, my CVS card earned me a dollar off and I paid fifty cents total, tax included!

A Foot Up & Then Down & One Day Up Again

Before the flood.

Before the destruction.

I was just a shortee. 

Trying to cook in a tall kitchen.

Boosted up in my sturdy chair.

I could reach it all.

I gave away my hexagonal table and two wooden chairs.

One of them my helper.

My shortness returned.

In mourning, I searched for a replacement.

At the TJMaxx.

Check it.

A purpley-velvet display caught my eye.

French rolling pins for $4, oh, my!

A humongous fish bowl I'd like to have.

Ten bucks is good, right?

But no stepping stool.

I still was sad.

(Since then, my Popaw has made me a stool and as soon as I possess it, I will post it!)

Tissues for Foodies

In Need Of An Intervention

I had a list of four items: bananas, a toothbrush, tampons, and a new Brita filter and intended it to be a short trip, in and out, but I got lost in the seasonal sale aisles.  Last month, the seasonal sale aisles had things like baby diapers, dish detergent, and paper plates.  This month, with everybody getting excited about Spring its outdoor furniture, barbeque grills and seed packets. 

I went hog wild on the seed packets.  First I grabbed a rosemary because I love the way rosemary smells, debated between two different tomatoes, pondered the zinnia, cosmos, and dahlias before grabbing one of every kind of sunflower and plowed on to the tall fescue grasses!  "Have you lost your mind?!" I asked myself, because I know me and I have a black thumb.  I came to my senses and bought one tomato, one sunflower, and a pack of four different flowers to plant around the mailbox.  And a seed tray, plus three out of four of the items on my list.
